Excitement, adventure and really wild things....

Well, not really.

It's just been the usual stuff. Tho I did have a good day on Monday. Went to the corner store for beer and hit a $24 dollar jackpot. Then Pops and I decided that it would be a good idea to go to the casino and try our luck.

Imagine my surprise when after a mere 30 minutes or so I found myself $70 up. I even cashed out so that I wouldn't blow it all back. Put 5 bucks back in and still sat there for quite a while guzzling free beer. Then we went into the bar to say hi to Tanya. She's a good bartender, and really cute as well.

I ran into a Rush fan at the bar, always a bonus. Pop wandered off and managed to hit a $100 dollar jackpot, and by then it was near 11:00 so we left.

Yesterday I didn't do a fuckin' thing. Well, I did watch movies and lay on the couch, but I'm not sure that qualifies as 'doing' anything. I'm scheduled off next Monday and Tuesday also, and I like the sound of that. Monday's the 4th, in case you didn't know. We're kicking around the idea of a BBQ.

Ok....time to finish getting ready for work.

See ya in the funny papers,

Another casual weekend

I don't know if I've mentioned that I now have a dress code at work.

It's nothing harsh, mind, but still I must conform. During the week, i.e. Mon-Thurs we subscribe to what I guess is called 'business casual', which for me means 'pants not clearly identifible as jeans, and a long-sleeved, collared shirt.'

Now, my sleves are usu rolled up, my top button is never buttoned, and I don't have to wear a tie, but it's still more dressy than I usually go.

Enter Friday. Friday is jeans and t-shirt day. So is Saturday. Sunday? Well on Sunday, anything goes. Well, within reason, I suppose. I've never tested the limits, but I have worn shorts and a tank to work on the last 3 consecutive Sundays.

My sisters b/f is going to talk to the techs where he works, and see if they can tell him enough about my wiring to get my car rolling. Let's keep our fingers crossed, shall we?

Here are some interesting facts about Israel
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

One fact you won't find there, is that apparently, I've developed an audience there. Or so my stat tracker leads me to believe. I got a stat tracker shortly after starting this blog. Not because I'm an egomaniac or anything, but because I'd seen one that tracked locations of browses. I thought that was cool, so I signed up.

In recent days, I've seen a strange trend, well, at least strange to me. I've been getting hit a lot from a server in Israel. I don't know why this should be, but welcome, if you're surfing me from there.

Oh, and by the way, leave me a comment sometime. That goes for all of you.

So, ok, I guess that's it for now....

Take care.

It's been a busy few days, but I guess you know that

Whew.

Sometimes it's hard to find time to catch your breath.

I've been working. Of course.

I've been playing Everquest. Of course. My guild has finally broken into the Plane of Time. I know that doesn't mean much to those of you that don't play, but take from me, it's a pretty big deal.

My son called me last night, and we talked for quite a while. He's got a job now, and it sounds like he's doing pretty well. He also asked for the addy to my site, so if you're reading this M, hi there, and welcome.

On the car front, I actually have some good news, if you can handle it. I got the engine unfrozen, and I didn't even have to take it out of the car.

Are you as stunned as me? I'll bet not. Now, the only thing left is to decipher my wiring problems. Well, we can hope.

Off tomorrow, so we'll see if I can get sommat done about it.

I'll keep you posted, but for now, I'm off to work.

Socket to me, Baby....

Well, the trials continue. When last we left our intrepid hero, he was in search of a tool to work on his car. In a fit of nervous energy, he went to the hardware store, where he saw a 30mm socket for the bargain basement price of $6.99. Of course, he had a mere $6.48 in his pocket, so he left the store, vowing to return the following day with more money.

On his way to work, he stopped at the gouge-you-til-you-bleed-out-your-eyes-parts-store, also known as Napa. Imagine his wonderment and surprise when he located a socket in the required size for a mere $4.29 plus tax. $4.59 out the door. He nearly wet himself.

Given that, it's really too bad that the engine is still frozen in place, even after liberal application of WD-40, and good old fashioned American muscle. He's now convinced that the only way to get this thing going is to remove the engine, and take it from there.

Happily, that's not as complicated as it sounds. It's just a major pain in the ASS!! I mean, 4 bolts, 4 wires, a pair of jackstands and a floor jack, and the whole damn thing drops right out. It is, however, the priciple of the whole thing.

Tune in for tomorrow's exciting episode: The Search for a 17mm Wrench

Will our hero be confounded once again? Will he be able to locate a floor jack and some jackstands? Will he, in fact ever get this fucking thing running?

Only time will tell.

It's a conspiricy, I'm convinced of it.....

Every time I think I'm getting somewhere with my car, something happens to make me shake my head.

For example: Yesterday I went tool shopping. I bought a nice breaker bar, and a 27 mm socket so that I could try and turn my motor over. It's a fairly simple procedure on a VW. If you've got the hand strength and the right leverage, you can do it by hand.

Imagine my chagrin, then, to find out that, to quote Maxwell Smart I "missed it by that much."

That much being a mere 3mm. Those of you not on the metric system, or not familar with it may not know just how small a number that is, but there are about 25mm in an inch, so it's about 3/25ths of an inch.

Hell, I've got nose hair longer than that.

It's a hard knock life, for sure.

On a cheerier note, my guild did take down one of the tougher gods last night. A good end to a frustrating day, let me tell you.

Well, enough blather for today. If you are lucky, I'll post again when I get home. Peace out.

I set a course just east of Lyra, northwest of Pegasus

Not much today. Just can't seem to get my thoughts ordered for typing.

Took forever to come up with that lame title, and now, to follow it up...I got nothin'.

Have to leave for work in like 30, and I'm gonna have to eat something afore I go, so I guess that's all you get today.

I'm so gimp. Hope the rest of you are more creative and have more to say. It sucks to be lame.

Another Saturday night and I ain't got no body

I got some money cause I just got paid

Well, it's not really Saturday night (saturday morning, sure, as it's past 1:30 local) and I don't really have any money, despite it being payday.

I owe rent, bills, and the final payment on my aforementioned Superbeetle.

Of course, being payday, I went to the casino and blew a few bucks. I could have cashed out even, but where's the fun in that?

I've also had way too many beers to be good for me, but who the fuck cares?

I ran into an old friend tonight. And, of course, it was nothing like I expected it to be. Is it ever?

Well, I hate to break this short, but the beer is catching up with me.

If you really want to talk, email me at kvenya@gmail.com

I see the Middle Kingdom, between Heaven and Earth

I know I told you I'd post and let you know about Hellday at work, but as it turns out, it wastn't nearly as bad as I'd feared it would be. Sure, there were busy times but there were times that were as slow as any day we have.

I have to say I was quite happy to not have to deal with insanity on parade. Then, of course, I had 2 days off....In a ROW, if you can handle it.

I spent Wednesday drinking beer and striping down my SuperBeetle.

Now, don't get the idea that this is MY car, no, not by a longshot. The year is the same, but you need to imagine it much more faded, and not nearly as clean. Picture a car that has been sitting, unused, in the desert for 2 years.

If I had a freaking digital camera (donations gladly accepted) I'd post some pictures of it. If I can get one, maybe I'll even start a 'Restoration Blog' and document my progress. Yeah, right. I can hardly ever even find time to post here.

Yesterday was spent in a glut of Everquest. That, quite literally is all I did yesterday. Unless you count the one hour break I took to make and eat some macaroni and cheese with hot dogs in it.

Yeah, I'm pathetic, I know.

Well, time for a shower and stuff, back to the grind today. Take care all you crazy kids.

Fiesta con fuego,

T.
