Vignette of my day...

Imagine it, if you will. I'm at work, getting into the swing of my shift, there are 4 operators and one trainee. It's a pretty slow day at work, being Sunday. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed.

Talk ranges over many subjects. The highlight, for me, was listening to them argue over which of the word was worse, cunt or pussy?

No shit.

In that particular company, I've use all my bad words. I've told them the story of twatmop. We've talked about almost everything. So, I put it to you, my woman readers: which is worse, and why?

Sorry about that, prolly an overshare. In other news, I'm worried about New Orleans. Do you realize that there's a chance Katrina will scour that city off the map?

Here's a question: Have you ever seen Swordfish? It's a pretty good movie. John Travolta, Hugh Jackman.

Oh, and Halle Berry full on shows off her cans. No shadowy set, no 'body-double', just straight shows 'em off. I respect that.

Hat's off to ya, Halle.

Have you ever seen the movie Payback?

It's a Mel Gibson, and it's a pretty good one.

I ask simply because it's on in the background. I'm also listening to music...and blogging, of course. Guess that makes me a multi tasker.

I was talking to E-Bomb today ( one of the folks I work with) and I got around to talking about jokes that I've made up. Not like my toothpaste rant, or my issues with toast, but real question and answer jokes. I've made up 4. One is kind of obsure, but they have all raised a smile one one person or another.

The first one I made up is the obscure one, so we'll get that one out of the way first.

1) What did the alien roll of film say to the photo lab technician?

Tape me to your leader.

2) Did you hear that Satan changed his name?

He now prefers to be called the entity formerly known as the Prince of Darkness.

3) Did you hear what happended when Jeffery Dahmer testified?

He fell apart on the witness stand.

The next one requiers a little set up. It's ilegal to clone humans. We all know this, right? Every government has outlawed it. We all also know that someone is going to break that law eventually, right?

4) Well, you know who's gonna prosecute the case?

The DNA's office.

I make no apologies for the above jokes. They are all family friendly....well, the Dahmer one is kinda gross. And, they are mine. All mine. It's not as easy as you might think to make one up.

If any of you have one, please leave it in my comments.....

In other news, I'm loving Itunes like, tons. I've been diligently (well not really) loading my cd's onto my puter. I'm currently at 342 songs, 1 day of music 1.42 gigs.

It boggles my mind how so much music can be in such a small amount of space, but now I'm torn.

You all know that I want an Ipod shuffle. Well, I saw this on Attack of the Show the other day MobiBLU Cube.

Tough call.

Well, people to go, places to do.

My brain is fuzzy....

Work called me this morning to see if I could work 12:30-9:00 instead of 2:30-9:00. One of the other operators is having some personal issues and needs to change her hours. I have no problem with this. That's the shift I used to work, so it's no biggie. What I do have issues with is when they called me.

7:30 am.

Yeah, that's right 7:30 am to see if I could be in at 12:30. Now, I know how much I've ranted here about not being able to sleep much past 7 or 7:30, but today was one of those rare days that found me still sound asleep at 7:30.

Needless to say, I was frustrated at the rude awakening. 7:30's an absurd time to make a phone call. I personally refuese to call people (except my sister) either before 9 am, or after 9pm. Well, I'll call L after 9, but that's the exception, and not the rule.

Ok...guess I'm done ranting. I think I'll post later too, if any of you care...heh

Once had a love and it was a gas....

Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass.

Can you tell that Blondie was playing when I started writing this? I still love that song, tho I think I may like 'Call Me' or 'Rapture' better. There was a time, however when that was my favorite Blondie song.

Mmmmmm.....I can smell bacon....Looks like Poppa is making breakfast.....

Bacon and egg sanwich. Gotta love it. Hold on a sec while I eat...

Yum....that was muy tasty.

Not much blog-worthy stuff lately. It's been nice not walking to work. I'm sad to report that it's going to end soon, though. C should be home today, I think. Soon it's back to the grind.

The late shift's not so bad. It's pretty slow, or at least has been so far.

Gah...thoughts won't marshall up for a good blog, so I'm outta here. Keep drifting off.

Take cool,

T.

The wait is over....

That's right, at 12:57 pm on 8/21 Ava Elaine joined the world.

Weighing in at a hefty 8lb 7oz, and 21 inches in length. Sister started contracting somewhere around 5:30 am, and was headed to the hospital at around 10:45 or so. We were there by 11:00, and less than 2 hrs later, it was over.

I got to go down and see her. She was one of the lucky babies that came out really cute. She was also very alert, looking around everytime someone talked, and we think she even smiled.

I am sad to report that my batteries were dead (sigh in the rush to get out of the house i forgot to check) so pictures will be late, but worry not, they will arrive.

I'm pretty tired today, so I'm going to cut this short.

I'll see you tomorrow.

Elven songs and endless nights...

Well, the Pinon was the winner yesterday. I hit a couple 4-spots, but it didn't amount to much. We had fun, tho, and that's really what it's about. We stopped at the am/pm on the way home, and I was able to hit one more 4-spot. This one was on quarters, however, and I cashed out 24 dollars. It took a bit of the sting out of the loss at the casino.

Still no neice. Sister said that Monday is inducement day. She stopped by briefly yesterday. I spent most of the rest of the day helping my mom get a t.v. and get it to her house.

It's kind of a long story, really. She bought a new vcr/dvd combo machine, and her t.v. is old enough to be RCA jack impaired. So she decided to get a new t.v. Best Buy was having a pretty good sale on flat screens, so we went up to get her one. It took forever for the sales guy to find the forklift/platform thing so that he could get the chosen box down. We had done the whole measure-it-to-make-sure-it-will-fit-in-the-backseat thing, so I was confident as we strolled out to the car with it.

The problem? The car doors don't open wide enough. She opened her trunk, took out the crap that was camping there, and we tried to get the t.v. in. No luck. We called Sister, and got the number for her s.o.'s mom (the only person i could think of with a truck). No answer, of course. Back into the store we go, to have them hold the thing until we can get back with a vehicle.

I ask her to take me to the In and Out Burger, as it's right there. It wasn't until we got over there that I realized it was like 12:15. Tons of people in the drive through. We got the food, and were headed back to my house when mom's cell rings.

You guessed it, s.o.'s mom. She said it would be no problem for us to borrow the truck. This as I'm on my way home for lunch. So we head to my house, I eat lunch (a little hurried as you might imagine), and off we go. Over to S's house, all the way across town to Best Buy where again we stand around forever waiting to be waited on. Finally a saleperson brings the t.v. out. I load it on the truck, head to my mom's house and drop it off. Then it's back to S's to drop off the truck and pick up mom's car.

She dropped me off, and we called a cab to head over to gamble (i don't drive on these little trips because of the implied beer drinking). We got home, and I was pretty tired...and pretty buzzed too. I watched Napoleon Dynamite. I think I'll have to watch it again to really start getting into it.

Man....I need a day off....

Cogito, ergo sum.

That's latin, if you didn't know. The words of a Frenchman, born in 1596.

Rene Descartes, to be exact. He was a mathematician.

He was a philosopher.

There's a line in the second paragraph that caught my eye:

The two most widely known of Descartes' philosophical ideas are those of a method of hyperbolic doubt, and the argument that, though he may doubt, he cannot doubt that he exists.

I remember reading a little Decartes in high school. There was a part of his work, I can't rightly remember the title now, but I remember the gist.

Descartes put forth that the one human trait that exsisted in perfect abundace was common sense, because everybody believes that they have all the common sense they need.

Something like that anyhow. It's kinda scary, if you think about it.

On another topic; no neice. Sister is now 6 days late. I think that if she doesn't pop tomorrow, they'll induce. May be one day later, I'm not sure how it works. I do know that she said a week past her due date, which was 8/13.

The plans for Dland have begun. So have the battles. Looks like an early September trip this time. I'm pretty excited. I love Dland.

Oh, yeah...Poppa got his check yesterday, so he's treating to a couple bucks over at the:

Well, it' 1:00, and that's the time I set for bed tonight. Hope all is well with all of you.

Oh yeah, the title? Another little gem that Descartes came up with.

I think, therefore I am.

ps if you see typos and such please forgive me in a battle to be less critical of myself im seeing how relaxed i can be about it all

And the beat goes on...

It's a slow process, but I'm getting there.

I'm coping my admittedly abbreiviated music collection to my puter. Itunes really is a nice bit of software. I've got it running random right now, and it's not hitching at all, even tho I'm importing a cd and surfing at the same time.

I'm still thinking of getting a shuffle to compliment it, and I'm leaning more and more towards the 1gig model. I just now broke the first gig, and I have tons of musing on here already. Of course, they're whole albums, and I wouldn't necessarily have all of the songs from every album on the shuffle, but it's still a butt ton of music.

Before I started this current import, it was 238 songs and 1.02 gigs of music. That's a lot of music, and if I pulled one song out, the rest would go onto the shuffle. It boggles the mind.

Today is Friday. Well, it's Thursday, but I don't work tomorrow, so it's Friday too. Looks like L is busy Friday, so sushi will be on Wednesday (i hope).

I find I'm staying up later with this new shift tho. Oh well, I expected that. I'm also able to sleep in a bit more. Case in point: I woke up at 8:30 this morning. That's almost unheard of.

Poppa's check got here yesterday, so we'll be going to do a little gambling tomorrow. Poppa's been lucky lately ($50.00 in quarters in his last 2 trips to am/pm), so confidence is high, I repeat, confidence is high.

Ok...off to the cleansing....

Learn something new everyday.....

This is not advice so much, but rather the way I live my life. I've used this one so often, you could almost say it's my mantra. I like learning stuff. I like knowing the answer when somebody asks a question.

I sometimes even go out of my way to learn. I've been known to open the dictionary (or the encyclopedia) to a random page and just start reading. I watch National Geographic and The Learning Channel.

Trivia? I'm your man.

Today, however, I learned something I could have happily lived out my life without knowing. This knowledge came to me as a direct result of my job. We have a lot of accounts, as I think I've said, ranging from tow companies to realty companies; rental agencies to doctor's offices.

It's strange, really. One minute you're booking a showing appointment for a house, the next you're telling a doctor that a patient is having a reaction to his meds.

Today's call went something like this:

"Random Health Company, this it T.J., how may I help you?"

"Anonymous patient had a clostomy, and the bag has been working fine, but he's experiencing a large flow of mucus from his anus. Is this normal?"

"Actually, I have no idea, as I'm the answering service, but I can get a message to my on-call and have them give you a call back."

After getting all the pertinent info, I call H, the on-call nurse.

"This is Random Nurse."

"Hi, Random Nurse, this is T.J."

"Oh, hi, T.J. how are you?"

"Not bad, and yourself?"

"Pretty good. Just out on a walk with the dogs. What's up?"

I tell her, and she says, and I quote:

"Well, just for your edification, that's perfectly normal. What's their number?"

After which, I'm confident that she called them back. Now while I'm sure she had the best of intentions, that is the information I could have lived without.

But there you have it: If you ever have to shit into a plastic bag, expect your body to rebel by expelling copious amounts of mucus out your anus.

Is there such a thing as too much knowledge? If there is, I think I'm getting dangerously near the saturation point.

My brain hurts,

T.

Colored lights can hypnotize, sparkle someone else's eyes

The night shift is going to be ok I think.

I worked until 11:00 pm last night, and boy, was it dead. Not just the post 9:00 part (my old leave time), but the entire day. I couldn't believe how slow it was. The beauty of the post 9:00 part is that I'm technically on graveyard at that point, so we get to have the t.v. on. I'll also be able to change out of my 'work clothes' and back to my 'walking clothes' for the last 2 hours. Of course, for the next 10 days or so, I'll be driving to work, so I won't have to worry about 2 sets of clothes, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.

Nothing new on the baby front. Sister still has not popped. It's reached the time of year that we are starting to plan our next trip to Dland, and I can hardly wait. Of course, there are always issues such as: Which hotel, and how much are we willing to pay, Rental car vs. flying, tickets, and timing.

I do my best to stay out of the planning. I just throw money at her until she says to stop, then start saving my spending money.

The new schedule is (mostly) official, and it has me off on Friday. I haven't talked to L yet, but we should be able to have our sushi night out then, provided of course that she doesn't have plans for Friday. I do intend to take the new dig and document dinner tho, so stay tuned.

The new coverage is going to present some problems, and it looks like I may be going from 2 days off together to splits. I really don't care, but we'll have to see how the whole thing shakes out.

I think it's time for a little eq, so I'll leave you for now.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, Dudes,

T.

And the sign said: Long-haired, freaky-people need not apply

So, they changed my schedule at work.

There has been a shift in the busy times, and we're busier later, so they had to cover part of the graveyard shift.

I now work (as of today) from 2:30-11:00 pm. That may sound kinda nasty to you, but in fact, I acually used to work 3:00-11:00 back when I was going to school, and I had no problems with it. I'm up late anyhow. Last night is a perfect example. I didn't get to bed until after 1.

About the only thing that is going to suffer is my eq. Getting off at 9:00, I still had a chance to (sometimes) log in for the odd raid. Now, I can almost guarantee that they will be done by the time I get home.

That only leaves me 2 days to raid with my guild. I hope that I can use the new-found non work hours in my day to get stuff done so that I can raid on my days off, but I have very little hope of that. Things just never seem to work out that well.

In other news, my sister is now 2 days overdue. If she hasn't popped by the 20th, they will be inducing her. I know that she's ready to be done with the whole pregnancy thing.

Well, looks like a shower is eminent. Hope the world treats you well.

Auga con pollo,

It was too good to be true.

9:30.

That's when L called.

Needless to say, we didn't go play golf. Nor did I get to see her at all, which is mostly what playing golf was all about. We used to hang out a lot, and then she moved to Reno, which is like 30 miles away, and I never get to see her anymore.

She's promised me a sushi night out sometime after she gets paid on Friday. I hope our schedules can mesh for it, but I'm not sure they will.

Casa de carne,

T.

We have a 6:30 tee time

Wether or not we will acutally get to play golf is entirely up in the air. L forgot that she has to pick her mom up at the airport this evening, but her mom lives in Carson, so either way she will be coming by for a visit.

Here's hoping that golf ensues.

More later.

Adventures in babysitting....

One of the ladies that I work with is going out of town, and has asked me to carsit for her. I have no problem with that, as it means that I will be able to drive to work while she is gone. Wow, what a concept.

I think that things at work are coming up to what may be a mixed blessing. We have 2 employees that are about as reliable as cheesecloth condoms. One girl, let's call her Michelle, cause that's her name, almost got fired yesterday. If she's even one minute late from now on, she will be.

The other girl, let's call her Annette, pulled a no call, no show. She just left, and decided not to call at all. Another girl I work with called her about 4 days later, and told her to go ahead and call in, that they would prolly let her come back.

A mistake, if you ask me, but they did indeed let her come back to work. The upshot of all this is that if these two fail to make it to work (and I can't see anything else happening, really) they will be let go, and those of us remaining will be working 6 and a half days a week until we can restaff.

Now, the working everyday is going to suuuuuuck, but it will equate to approximately 28 hours of overtime per check. That is nice.

Sigh. Why can't people just show up and do their job?

On a lighter note, due to vacation requests and the like, I've lucked into a day off rotation that's pretty cool. I had Monday and Tuesday off, I worked yesterday, and I work today, but then I have Friday and Saturday off.

Of course after that I will have a long stretch before I get a day off, I'm sure. Our weeks end on Thursday, and I know for a fact that I will work Sunday-Thursday, what comes after I won't know until the new schedule comes out.

The phone just rang, and I think it's for me...hold on....

Cool...that was L, of whom you have heard me speak I'm sure. Looks like we are going to go play golf on Saturday, or at least go hit some golf balls.

Ok...guess that's all

Waiting for the winds of change to sweep the clouds away

Having trouble getting the creative juices flowing this morning. Not sure why that should be, but there you have it.

I've got Rush on, and that's always s good thing, but I can't seem to find anything to say.

They did try to call me into work yesterday. I can't believe it. It makes me wonder what they did before I worked there. I've taken to monitoring my calls. It kinda sucks, actually. I'm afraid to answer my phone. If I could just say no, it would be one thing, but I find it well nigh impossible to refuse.

There's an interesting contrast. I have no problem hearing them on my machine, asking me to come in, and not picking up, but when it actually comes to saying I can't come in, I'm as useless as tits on a bull. Now, I have to make up a story aboout whre I was, and why I didn't check my messages....

Guess it's shower time.

Carne del Diablo,

T.

My sister is due in 9 days

No, she's not returning from a trip or anything, but, as you may remember, pregnant.

It's difficult to beilieve that it's been 9 months already. She's the one that took me shopping on Tuesday. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I got shampoo and conditioner. Not the cheap shit either.Paul Mitchell, and thanks to my sis being licensed, I got a liter bottle of Awapuhi shampoo, and a liter of The Conditioner for about 16 bucks. Normally the conditioner alone goes for 13-15 for the small bottle.

Yay, Sis!!

I finished the storyline missions on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas the other day. The final mission was a real pain in the ass. Now I guess I need to play FFX for a while again. Have to get all my chars buffed to the max...grin.

On another note, I downloaded Itunes. I can't really say why, except that I am thinking of getting an Ipod Shuffle....of if I can find some way to get enough money, a full Ipod. The shuffle is like totally small and cool, so I don't know. Only $99 for the 512k one, and that's right in my price range.

Guess that's all for now.....

We have Assumed Control....We have Assumed Control.

WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL!!

That's for all the Rush fans out there. I blew some money yesterday and one of the things I bought was a copy of 2112, my favorite album of all time. I also bought Signals (another Rush album) Die Another Day, Trading Places, and a cd burner for my other puter.

Had lunch at In and Out, and after a nice, albeit hot and sweaty afternoon nap made some bleu cheese dressing. It's sooooooo good. The recipie that my dad has beats anything I've ever had elsewhere. Well, I have the recipie too, but you get the idea.

It's still hot, and I'm still walking. No surprise there. I have to say tho, I'm shocked. I had 2 days off...in a row, no less...and work didn't try to call me in.

Well, time to chase some food and shower.
