FINALLY
I've been joanzing for it for ages now, and today, I finally reached my breaking point.
I don't know if I've mentioned, but there's this place called National's Cafe on main street here in ol' C-town. It a tough place to spot if you don't know what you're looking for, and it's in a building that's been like.....everything.
It was a sub shop. It was a taco joint. I think it was even a coffee shop once....
But, I digress.
It kinda looks like a dive from the outside:
Dive
When that window opens, click on 'street view' then use the navigator in the upper left of the pic to click left once.
It's the blue and white building.
It doesn't look like much, but, as I've always been told, looks aren't everything.
I can report to you, however, that inside those humble walls dwells the best sushi in Carson City.
To wit, the Fire Roll: Deep fried assorted fish tempura with eel sauce & spicy sauce.
Again, it sounds humble, but I let 2 other people try it today, and both agreed that it was the shiznit. They have other stuff, but that's the one that I've been salivating over now for....well, since the last time I was there, I guess. I had one of those, and the boring Californa roll (crab avocado cucumber & tobiko) and it was divine. In addition to their ala carte menu, which is outstanding, they're also one of the sushi places in town that offer an all you can eat special. Yes, you read that right, all you can eat. Dinner is $18.50.
Lunch? A mere $15.50.
It's a good thing I got to have a trancendental experience today, because the rest of my day was an absolutely smoking turd.
Just the fact that I was on the counter for most of my shift today should give you a little insight. Cause, y'know...I don't work the register.
Ever.
I also worked a full hour of overtime, so I had a tasty 9 hour day.
I'm home now, though, and things are much better.
I just thought I'd share my sushi story before I fire up eq....

Fuck dolphins, I want a Niçoise salad...
I'm sorry I've been so spotty with my posting lately, but I've been enjoying the freedom of not being on a NaBloPoMo schedule.
We've got another petrified wood hike scheduled for tomorrow, just so you know.
And like you care.
We're going to do it right this time tho. We're taking back packs, water, the GPS.
We're going all out.
If noting else, it should make for a cool hike/post.
Buenos con queso,

I knew I did a word post...
Kelwhy did a post on some of her favorite words the other day, and I had a vague feeling that I'd already done something like that, but I could find it for the life of me.
Until last night, that is. I found a piece of paper covered with the chicken scrawl that is my 'in a hurry' handwriting, and it reminded me that it was one of the 'letter posts' from one of the NabloPoMo themes.....
So, if you want to read 10 of my favorite words that start with the letter J, go here.

It's funny how one little thing can totally change your day.....
Michael and I didn't really have any plans for today (which is a plan in itself for us sometimes) and I was up playing EQ (which ive been neglecting for some time now) when Michael woke up.
We hung out a bit, and then left the house on a relatively simple errand, but in the course of taking care of that, I hooked up with an old friend (that i havent seen in a couple years at least) and we end up at his buddies house, who just happens to be having a garage sale.
So, of course, I looked around, and bought a couple things, then the other customer left, and we all went inside for a beer. We were hanging out and enjoying a cool one, and another customer shows up.
While he's outside, my friend starts telling me about this 'petrified wood field' up the wash behind this guys house. Well, if you know anything about me (or michael for that matter) you know that we immediately set off in quest of the elusive petrified wood.
We hiked a whole ton, and were helped by a nice little overcast that sprouted up, and some very nice little breezes.
I'm happy to report that both Michael and I found some. Now, at first I just found a couple of pieces, and I would have been happy with that, but after some more hiking, we came to a place that was covered with it.
I must have had like 2 or 3 pounds of it when I finally decided not to get greedy, and just go. I need to clean it all up, so you can't see it yet, but the new header pic is a piece of the wood I found.
That's what she said.

I'm gonna give you a little somthin' you cain't take off.....
So, Michael and I went and saw Inglorious Basterds last night.
As an added bonus, Scotty went with us.
Now, I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I'm a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino and his various movies.
That being said, last nights experience was unique in that it's the first time I've gotten to go see one of his works in the theatre.
Not only that, but the 3 of us were at a midnight showing on premiere night.
I prolly don't need to tell you this, but the movie was fucking awesome!!
Now, you know that even when I 'review' movies here I rarely give away secrets or include 'spoilers' and today won't be any different.
I will say that Brad Pitt turns in a fantastic performance, as does Diane Kruger who is the only other person whose name I recognize. The rest of the actors and actresses are great too, but those are the only 2 that I know by name.
In case you haven't heard, it's a movie based in WWII, and is about killing Nazi's. I don't count that as a spoiler, as if you've seen a preview, you already know that. If you haven't....well, go Apple.com/quicktime or something and watch a trailer or 2.
Ok, so it was a great night at the movies, and a fucking awesome movie.
Oh, and the theatre was packed with smokin' hotties.
I mean, they were fucking everywhere. Of course, if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that I most of them were young enough to be my daughter, but that didn't stop them from being hot.
Anyhow, we crashed at L's house in Reno, and that's where I'm blogging from.
I should warn you that if you do decide to see this flick, prepare yourself. This is not a warm and fuzzy movie. It's harsh, stark, and violent as hell.
I think you should all go see it and then come here and tell me what you thought.
